WOMEN'S HAIR LOSSResource for Female Hair Restoration

Female hair loss is an issue that affects over 18% of women in the U.S.  Fortunately, Imaging International can help.  With recent innovations in the area of hair restoration, females may now take advantage of non-surgical, European hair system, which in most cases provides excellent results.

Androgenetic Alopecia (“Pattern Baldness”) is the most common type of hair loss affecting women today.  Normally, the hair loss occurs at times of hormonal changes such as contraception, childbirth or menopause.

Unlike “Male Pattern Baldness,” women’s hair loss will take on a unique recession pattern.  Most often the hair loss occurs either in the temple area or the hair thins in a triangle pattern in the center of the scalp.

2 TYPES OF HAIR LOSS:

 GENETIC HAIR LOSS:

Female Pattern Baldness may result from a genetic predisposition to hair loss caused by an abnormally high level of hormones.

·        Alopecia Areata: results in patchy hair loss throughout the scalp area

 ·        Alopecia Totalis: causes hair loss throughout the entire scalp and body

NON-GENETIC HAIR LOSS:

Clinical research had categorized two types of non-genetic hair loss:

 ·        Anagen effluvuim:

Results from chemotherapy agents or medications known to cause hair loss.

 ·        Telogen effluvium:

More common version of hair loss due to hair follicles entering the resting stage.

OTHER CONSIDERATIONS WHICH MAY CAUSE HAIR LOSS:

 ·        Hormonal Causes (menopause, pregnancy and birth control)

·        Dietary Considerations (significant loss of weight)

·        Physical & Emotional Stress (surgery, illness or high stress levels)

·        Thyroid Abnormalities (high levels of Vit. A or blood pressure medication)

Before considering any hair restoration options, one should always consult a qualified physician prior to beginning any treatments
